Most Falanghina is grown in Campania in southern Italy. The vines thrive in the porous volcanic soils around Mount Vesuvius. There has been a renaissance of interest in Falanghina since the turn of the century, and there is now a movement to restore the reputation of this once-celebrated grape. Though it is increasingly fashionable, Falanghina isn't yet planted much outside Campania. This wine hails from Guyot-trained vines that grow in limestone and clay soils at 300-400 metres altitude. Typically, it is harvested in the last half of September and fermented in steel at controlled temperatures, with no malolactic, to retain is fresh floral and fruit forward character.
