Sourced from 2 parcels, the largest from a plot in the Paardeberg (60%) and the rest from the Polkadraai Hills. Both sites have different soil types that contribute varying characteristics to the wine’s profile. Lukas believes that the wine is made up of components that come together to provide a wine that is greater than the sum of its individual parts.The decomposed granite from the Swartland (Paardeberg) provides elegance and a linear core with the granite from Stellenbosch (Polkadraai) provides a yellow orchard fruit element, as well as density. The wine spends 10 months on its lees in older 500 litre French barrels, with the parcels blended close to bottling. Notes of quince, citrus peel, beeswax and red apple. The crispness of acidity brings focus and energy. Attractive phenolic grip on the palate gives an added layer of complexity and weight. Drink now until 2028.
